Field Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) has a long history of use in traditional and folk medicine, primarily as a diuretic. Young, sporeless shoots (resembling miniature pine trees) are harvested for medicinal purposes. In urology, field horsetail herb is traditionally used to support urinary tract health, addressing inflammation related to infection or hypothermia in the kidneys and bladder (excluding nephritis and nephrosis), and alleviating edema of various origins, including those associated with heart failure. Its potent anti-inflammatory properties promote urine flow. It may also be used to support lymphatic drainage.
Steep 1 tablespoon of field horsetail herb in 1 cup of boiling water. Cover and steep for 30 minutes. Strain and divide the infusion into 3-4 daily doses. Take 15 minutes before meals.
