Dried Pharmaceutical Chamomile Flowers are a natural product with numerous therapeutic benefits. They offer soothing, analgesic, antispasmodic, anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, wound-healing, haemostatic, diaphoretic, cholagogue, mild astringent, sedative, and analgesic properties. This herbal remedy contains essential oils (chamazulene, bisabolol oxides A and B, spatulenol, and levomenol); flavonoids (flavonol and flavone glycosides, aglycones including quercetin, isorhamnetin, and patuletin, as well as apigenin, chrysoeriol, and chrysosplenetin); hydroxycoumarins (umbelliferone and herniarin); and rhamnogalacturonan. Chamomile reduces pepsin proteolytic activity and exhibits anti-inflammatory effects. Its chamazulene and essential oils inhibit lipid peroxidation, providing antioxidant benefits. It offers antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects (against Staphylococcus spp. and Candida spp.) and promotes tissue regeneration. It also possesses deodorant and anti-pruritic properties. Indicated for internal use in gastritis, duodenitis, peptic ulcers, enterocolitis, and meteorism; as micro-enemas for spastic colitis and hemorrhoids; and topically for infections of the ENT system and oral cavity (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis, stomatitis, gingivitis), and urogenital infections. External use is indicated for dermatitis and trophic ulcers.
