Cystoseira barbata (also known as bearded cystoseira), a brown seaweed (Phaeophyceae), is a perennial marine plant with thin, long branches reaching up to 2 meters in length. Distinctive air bladders (pneumatocysts) aid buoyancy. Its ovate or oblong leaves (up to 5cm long) are dark green, facilitating photosynthesis and nutrient absorption.
