Septodont Fluocal Gel is a professional-strength fluoride gel designed to combat dental plaque, reduce tooth sensitivity, and prevent cavities. This sodium fluoride-based formula effectively inhibits the growth of acid-producing bacteria, particularly lactobacilli, in the oral cavity. Fluocal Gel is typically used after professional cleaning and scaling to enhance enamel, cementum, and dentin resistance to acid erosion.

Key Ingredients:

• Active Ingredient: Sodium fluoride (2.71g) – provides high-concentration fluoride for effective remineralization.
• Supporting Ingredients: Phosphoric acid (1g), alcohol (3.0g), saccharin (0.1g), xanthan gum (1.5g), and purified water. These ingredients enhance the gel's application and effectiveness.
• Fluoride Content: 1.23g per 100ml.

Indications:

Fluocal Gel is indicated for the reduction of risk associated with:

• Dental caries (cavities)
• Dental plaque buildup
• Tooth hypersensitivity (sensitivity)

It's also suitable for use in iontophoresis procedures.

Application:

Fluocal Gel should be applied by a dental professional as part of a preventative dental hygiene regimen. Proper enamel preparation is crucial:

1. Removal of calculus (tartar) using appropriate dental instruments.
2. Isolation of teeth using cotton rolls.
3. Thorough drying, especially of occlusal and proximal surfaces.

The gel is applied using a suitable instrument, such as a tray, brush, or cotton swab. After 4 minutes, the patient should expectorate the remaining gel. Patients should avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes following application.

Frequency of Use:

• Low Caries Risk: Once every 12 months.
• High Caries Risk: Twice yearly.

Contraindications and Precautions:

• Allergic Reactions: Do not use if allergic to any component of the gel.
• Pediatric Use: Due to the alcohol and fluoride content, use in children under 14 is generally not recommended.
• Fluoride Overload: Individuals with high fluoride intake should consult their dentist before using this product.
• Accidental Ingestion: Accidental ingestion may cause nausea. In case of ingestion, seek immediate medical attention. A 10% calcium gluconate injection may be administered to treat nausea.
