Description:

Magnesium Sulfate powder is a colorless, crystalline substance that forms a clear solution when mixed with water. This product contains 20g of pure Magnesium Sulfate, a mineral naturally present in the body and essential for various functions.

Pharmacological Action:

  • Laxative: When ingested, Magnesium Sulfate draws water into the intestines, softening stools and promoting bowel movements. This effect is achieved through its poor absorption and high osmotic pressure within the gut.
  • Choleretic: Magnesium Sulfate stimulates bile production in the liver, aiding digestion and promoting a healthy digestive system.
  • Antidote: This product acts as an antidote for poisoning caused by heavy metal salts, such as barium.

Indications for Use:

Magnesium Sulfate is primarily indicated for:

  • Constipation: Provides temporary relief from occasional constipation.
  • Preparation for Procedures: Used to prepare for bowel examinations such as colonoscopies.
  • Heavy Metal Poisoning: Acts as an antidote to counteract the effects of heavy metal poisoning.
