Description:

Holisal® is a transparent, colorless, homogenous dental gel with the scent of anise oil. It provides fast-acting pain relief and inflammation control for various oral conditions. This effective formula combines choline salicylate and cetalkonium chloride for comprehensive action.

Active Ingredients & Mechanism of Action:

• Choline salicylate: A potent analgesic (pain reliever), anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic (fever reducer) that quickly absorbs through the oral mucosa. It inhibits cyclooxygenase activity, the function of macrophages and neutrophils, interleukin-1 production, and prostaglandin synthesis. It also possesses antimicrobial and antifungal properties in both acidic and alkaline environments.
• Cetalkonium chloride: A broad-spectrum antiseptic effective against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, enhancing the overall therapeutic effect.

The gel's ethanol-containing adhesive base ensures rapid effect onset and prolonged retention of active ingredients on the mucous membrane. Analgesic effects typically begin within 2-3 minutes and can last for 2-8 hours.

Indications:

Holisal® dental gel is indicated for topical application to the oral mucosa for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with:

• Various types of stomatitis
• Gingivitis
• Periodontitis
• Oral mucosal lesions from dentures
• Oral trauma
• Teething pain in children
• Cheilitis
• Oral candidiasis
• Minor oral surgical procedures
• Oral lichen planus
• Oral mucosal lesions in Stevens-Johnson syndrome (as part of complex therapy)

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to salicylates or other components of the preparation.

Precautions:

Use with caution during pregnancy, lactation, and in children under 1 year of age.

Dosage & Administration:

Apply topically 2-3 times daily, before meals (for pain relief) or after meals and before bedtime. Adults should apply a 1cm strip of gel, and children a 0.5cm strip, to a clean finger and gently massage into the affected area. For periodontal diseases, apply directly to pockets, use as compresses, or gently massage into the gums 1-2 times daily.

Side Effects:

Transient mild burning sensation at the application site, which typically resolves spontaneously. Allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose:

No cases of Holisal® overdose have been reported.

Drug Interactions:

Holisal® may potentiate the effects of other anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic medications.

Holisal® does not impair psychophysical activity or the ability to drive or operate machinery.

Packaging:

15g of gel in an aluminum tube with a membrane and a polymer cap. The tube is packaged in a cardboard box with instructions for use.

Shelf Life:

3 years. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Storage:

Store below 25°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
