Description:
Dimexide spray is a powerful disinfectant with broad-spectrum bactericidal and antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including those causing hospital-acquired infections. It’s also effective against tuberculosis mycobacteria, fungi (including Candida and dermatophytes), and viruses (including those causing acute respiratory viral infections, herpes, poliomyelitis, all types of hepatitis, adenoviruses, and more). Its antimicrobial effect persists for up to 3 hours. The solution retains its properties even after freezing and thawing.
Dimexide also possesses anti-inflammatory properties and is used as part of complex therapy for various conditions, including:
- Musculoskeletal disorders: rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew’s disease), osteoarthritis (with peri-articular tissue involvement), reactive synovitis, limited scleroderma, erythema nodosum, discoid lupus erythematosus, foot mycoses, keloid scars, thrombophlebitis, alopecia, eczema, streptoderma, erysipelas.
- Traumatic injuries: bruises, sprains, traumatic infiltrates.
- Infections and wounds: purulent wounds, burns, radiculitis, trophic ulcers, acne, furunculosis.
Applications:
This 50% aqueous Dimexide solution is applied topically for disinfection and treatment of skin inflammations and musculoskeletal disorders. Its antiseptic and disinfectant properties prevent infection, provide analgesia, and enhance the effectiveness of combined therapies.
Dimexide is used for hygienic hand and glove disinfection by medical personnel, including surgeons, operating room nurses, midwives, and others involved in surgical procedures and childbirth. It’s also used to disinfect surfaces in medical facilities, ambulances, furniture, sanitary equipment, dishes, patient care items, and cleaning materials in cases of bacterial, viral, and dermatophyte infections. Furthermore, it’s employed for the disinfection and pre-sterilization cleaning of medical devices (including surgical and dental instruments, silicone impressions, rigid and flexible endoscopes), as well as for disinfection in various settings:

Usage and Dosage:
Apply topically via applications and irrigations (washes). Soak gauze pads in the required concentration and apply to affected areas for 20-30 minutes. Cover the pad with polyethylene film and cotton or linen cloth. Recommended application period: 10-15 days.
- Erysipelas and trophic ulcers: 30-50% solution, 50-100 ml, 2-3 times daily.
- Eczema: compresses with 40-90% solution.
- Local analgesia: 25-50% solution as compresses, 100-150 ml, 2-3 times daily.
- Face and sensitive areas: 10-30% solutions.

While not officially indicated, Dimexide is also used in:
