Altai Berberine Root (Bergenia crassifolia) is a potent, single-herb (monotraw) remedy harvested from the pristine ecological regions of the Altai Mountains. Unlike blended herbal teas, this pure, additive-free root offers a concentrated source of naturally occurring bioactive compounds. These include tannins (gallotannin), coumarins, Vitamin C, glycosides, phytoncides, iron, zinc, sugars, selenium, and other vital micro and macro-elements. Its high tannin content provides significant astringent, anti-inflammatory, and bactericidal properties.
Traditionally used in both folk and modern medicine, Altai Berberine Root tea and tinctures offer a multitude of health benefits. They can help:
Steep 1 tablespoon of Berberine root in 200ml of warm water in an enamel pot. Heat in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, then strain. Consume ½ tablespoon 4-5 times daily, 30 minutes before meals.
Combine 50g of Berberine root with 500ml of 40% alcohol (vodka or similar). Steep for 15 days. Take 30-35 drops diluted in ½ cup of boiled water, 3-4 times daily, 30 minutes before meals.
Store the root in a cool, dry place away from strong odors at a relative humidity of 60-70%. It has a shelf life of 2 years. Prepared teas and tinctures should be stored in a cool place and consumed within 2 days.
