The main active ingredient Ibuprofen + menthol Product form gel Dosage 30 g Pharmacological properties Ibuprofen, a derivative of phenylpropionic acid, is a prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. Menthol, when applied topically, causes flushing of the skin and has a distracting effect on pain that occurs when muscles, tendons and joints are damaged. Menthol acts on the nerve endings of the skin. Indications for use Local symptomatic treatment of rheumatic, muscular and joint pain; pain and swelling in tendon sprains, dislocations and sports injuries. The drug is intended for adults. Method of application and doses It is used only externally. For adults. A small amount of gel (3-5 cm) is applied in a thin layer to the painful area and rubbed lightly. Repeat as needed up to 3 times a day, observing an interval of at least 4 hours between each application. The duration of the use of the drug without consulting a doctor is not more than 10 days. If you need a longer use, you should consult your doctor. After using Ibuprofen DIP, wash your hands if they are not being treated. Use during pregnancy and lactation There is insufficient data on the safety of ibuprofen during pregnancy in women. In animal studies, oral administration of ibuprofen has not shown any teratogenic effects. In the case of sufficient systemic concentrations, inhibition of spontaneous labor, premature closure of the ductus arteriosus, increased bleeding in the mother and newborn, and an increased risk of edema in the mother are possible. In this regard, the topical use of ibuprofen is not recommended during the first six months of pregnancy and is contraindicated in the last trimester of pregnancy. Ibuprofen and its metabolites pass into breast milk, so the drug is not recommended during breastfeeding. Precautions For the first use, apply the drug to a small area. After applying the gel to the skin, an occlusive (airtight) dressing should not be applied. Avoid contact with the gel in the eyes and mucous membranes, contact with inflamed or damaged areas of the skin. After each use of the drug, wash your hands thoroughly, except when they are the object of treatment. If a rash or irritation occurs, stop using the drug. Oral ibuprofen may worsen existing kidney failure or cause an ulcer to flare up. In this regard, patients with a history of impaired renal function or with an active peptic ulcer should consult a physician before using Ibuprofen DIP. Undesirable effects can be reduced by using the smallest effective dose of the drug for the shortest possible course of treatment. If the gel is accidentally swallowed, it is recommended to seek medical attention. If undesirable effects appear, no improvement or aggravation of the condition, it is necessary to consult a doctor. There is a small possibility that topical use of Ibuprofen DIP, like any NSAID that can inhibit cyclooxygenase/prostaglandin synthesis, may affect fertility. In women who have difficulty getting pregnant or who are being tested for infertility, the drug should be discontinued. This medicinal product contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation. Interaction with other drugs Interaction studies have not been conducted. Concurrent use with aspirin or other NSAIDs may lead to an increased incidence of adverse reactions. The drug may enhance the effect of drugs that cause photosensitivity. Due to the low systemic absorption, clinically significant interactions with other drugs have not been described. Pediatric population Interaction studies have not been conducted. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the auxiliary components of the drug; hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs, which occurs incl. and when taken orally; bronchial asthma provoked by taking acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs; exudative dermatitis, eczema, infected skin lesions, burns; pregnancy; lactation; children’s age up to 18 years. Side effects When using the drug, the most common local reactions from the skin: rash, itching, urticaria, dry skin, redness, burning sensation, contact dermatitis. Systemic adverse reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) depend on the amount of gel used, the area to be treated, the integrity of the skin, the duration of treatment, and the use of an occlusive dressing. Extremely rarely, with local application of Ibuprofen DIP, side effects such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia and renal failure may occur. Hypersensitivity reactions associated with ibuprofen may include: non-specific allergic reactions and anaphylaxis; hypersensitivity reactions from the respiratory tract, including asthma, exacerbation of asthma, shortness of breath and bronchospasm, which may develop in patients with or with a history of bronchial asthma or allergic diseases; on the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: rash of various types, itching, urticaria, purpura, Quincke’s edema, less often bullous dermatoses, incl. toxic epidermal necrolysis and erythema multiforme.
