Important Information Before Taking Dexalgin®
Dexalgin® should not be used if:
- You are allergic to dexketoprofen trometamol or any other ingredients of Dexalgin®.
- You are allergic to aspirin or other NSAIDs.
- You have a history of asthma attacks, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, urticaria, angioedema, or wheezing after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.
- You have experienced photoallergic or phototoxic reactions while using ketoprofen or fibrates.
- You have a history of peptic ulcers, bleeding in the stomach or intestines, or perforation.
- You have chronic digestive disorders, including indigestion or heartburn, when using NSAIDs.
- You have chronic inflammatory bowel disease.
- You have severe heart failure, moderate or severe renal impairment, or severe liver impairment.
- You have increased bleeding or a blood clotting disorder.
- You are severely dehydrated.
- You are pregnant in the third trimester or breastfeeding.
- You are under 18 years of age.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dexalgin® if:
- You have a history of allergies.
- You have kidney, liver, or heart disease.
- You are taking diuretics.
- You are dehydrated.
- You have a history of heart disease or stroke.
- You are elderly.
- You have a history of blood disorders.
- You have systemic lupus erythematosus or mixed connective tissue disease.
- You have a history of inflammatory bowel disease.
- You have other stomach or intestinal problems.
- You have chickenpox.
- You are taking other medications that increase the risk of peptic ulcers or bleeding, such as oral steroids, antidepressants, aspirin, or anticoagulants.
- You have asthma with chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, and/or nasal polyps.
Interactions with Other Medications
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or may take any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription. Certain medications may interact with Dexalgin®, requiring dose adjustments or contraindicating their use together.
Dexalgin® may interact with:
- Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), corticosteroids, and other anti-inflammatory drugs.
- Warfarin, heparin, and other drugs that prevent blood clotting.
- Lithium.
- Methotrexate.
- Hydantoins and phenytoin.
- Sulfamethoxazole.
- ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
- Pentoxifylline and oxpentifylline.
- Zidovudine.
- Aminoglycoside antibiotics.
- Chlorpropamide and glibenclamide.
- Quinolone antibiotics.
- Cyclosporine or tacrolimus.
- Streptokinase and other thrombolytic or fibrinolytic drugs.
- Probenecid.
- Digoxin.
- Mifepristone.
- Antidepressants, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
- Antiplatelet agents.
- Beta-blockers.
Taking Dexalgin® with Food and Drinks
For acute pain, Dexalgin® should be taken on an empty stomach at least 15 minutes before meals for faster absorption.
Dosage and Administration
Adults over 18 years: The dose of Dexalgin® depends on the type, severity, and duration of pain. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and duration of treatment. The usual recommendation is one sachet (25mg) every 8 hours, up to a maximum of 3 sachets (75mg) per day. For elderly patients or those with liver impairment, the initial dose may be reduced.
Children: Dexalgin® is not allowed for use in patients under 18 years of age.
How to Use Dexalgin®
- Dissolve the entire contents of one sachet in a glass of water.
- Mix well for better dissolution.
- Take the solution immediately after preparation.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, immediately contact your doctor, pharmacist, or the nearest hospital emergency department.
Missed Dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. Simply take the next prescribed dose at the appointed time.
Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, Dexalgin® can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. The most common side effects include nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal pain, diarrhea, and digestive problems. Less common side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, palpitations, and skin rash.
Rare side effects may include respiratory depression, fluid retention, edema, loss of appetite, abnormal sensations, itching, increased sweating, back pain, frequent urination, menstrual irregularities, liver abnormalities, and kidney problems.
Very rare side effects may include Stevens-Johnson and Lyell syndrome, angioedema, bronchospasm, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, pancreatitis, blurred vision, tinnitus, hypersensitivity, skin tightness, sensitivity to light, itching, and blood disorders.
If you experience any side effects, especially if they are severe or persist, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Keep Dexalgin® out of the reach of children. Store below 25°C. Do not use after the expiration date printed on the carton and sachets.
Disposing of Dexalgin®
Do not dispose of any medicines in the sewer or with household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unused medication.

Dexalgin® granules for oral solution are available in aluminum foil/polyethylene coated sachets. Each sachet contains 25mg of dexketoprofen (as dexketoprofen trometamol) and other inactive ingredients.
