Name:
Smectosorb suspension 3.0 g/15 ml in 100 ml vial in pack No. 1
Description:
Light brown to brown suspension. Stratification of the suspension is allowed, which is eliminated by shaking. The main active ingredient Antidiarrheal agent Release form suspension for oral administration Dosage 3 g / 15 ml 100 ml Pharmacodynamics The active component of the Smectosorb suspension is diosmectite, a substance of natural origin: aluminum and magnesium silicate. Smectosorb well envelops the mucous membrane of the digestive tract due to its structural structure and high plastic viscosity. Stabilizes the mucous barrier, forms polyvalent bonds with mucus glycoproteins, increases the amount of mucus, improves its gastroprotective properties (in relation to the negative effect of hydrogen ions of hydrochloric acid, bile salts, microorganisms and their toxins). It has selective sorption properties, which are explained by the discoid-crystal structure of diosmectite, adsorbs bacteria and viruses located in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract. Smectosorb is a product that is transparent to radiation, does not stain stool, and in therapeutic doses does not affect intestinal motility. Pharmacokinetics Given the structure of diosmectite, Smectosorb is not absorbed or metabolized. Indications for use – symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in children and infants from the age of 1 month in complex therapy with oral rehydration solution, symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults; – symptomatic treatment of chronic diarrhea; – symptomatic treatment of abdominal pain, heartburn and bloating associated with diseases of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum and intestinal colic. Dosage and administration Smectosorb is administered orally. Shake the contents of the vial thoroughly immediately before use. The measuring cup is marked with divisions designed to dispense volumes from 2.5 ml to 20 ml. A single dose received by a measuring cup contains 15 ml of suspensions, which corresponds to 3 g of diosmectite. It is preferable to use the drug: after meals with esophagitis; in the intervals between meals for other indications. Treatment of acute diarrhea For children: up to 1 year: 30 ml of suspension per day for 3 days, then 15 ml of suspension per day. From a year and older: 60 ml of suspension per day for 3 days, then 30 ml of suspension per day. For adults: An average of 45 ml of suspension per day. At the beginning of treatment, the daily dose may be doubled. Other indications: For children: up to 1 year: 15 ml of suspension per day. Distribute 15 ml of suspension in several doses throughout the day or mix thoroughly with some semi-liquid product (broth, compote, puree or baby food); from 1 to 2 years: 15-30 ml of suspension per day; over 2 years: 30- 45 ml of suspension per day. For adults: An average of 45 ml of suspension per day. Application during pregnancy and lactation Pregnancy is not a contraindication to the use of Smectosorb, however, it should be used during pregnancy only as directed by a doctor. Smectosorb does not have a negative effect on the development of the fetus. If necessary, Smectosorb can be used during breastfeeding. Precautions Use with caution in patients with a history of chronic constipation. In children with acute diarrhea, the drug should be used in combination with prior oral rehydration solution to avoid dehydration. In adults, rehydration is prescribed if necessary. The duration of rehydration with oral or intravenous rehydration solution is prescribed depending on the course of the disease, age and characteristics of the patient. The patient should be informed about the need for rehydration with salty or sweet solutions to replenish fluid loss due to diarrhea (daily fluid intake for an adult is up to 2 liters). It is necessary to monitor the diet during diarrhea: exclude raw fruits and vegetables, spicy and fried foods, canned foods and drinks from the diet. Interaction with other drugs With the simultaneous use of Smectosorb, it can reduce the rate and extent of absorption of other drugs. It is not recommended to take the drug simultaneously with other drugs. The interval between taking Smectosorb and other drugs should be 1-2 hours. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to diosmectite or one of the components of the drug.
