Description:
aerosol for local use Main active ingredient Oxytetracycline + hydrocortisone Form of release aerosol for local use Dosage 55 ml Special instructions Do not use the drug continuously for more than 2 weeks. On the skin of the armpit and inguinal region, in the area of skin folds, the drug should be used with caution, since its absorption increases and the risk of developing adverse reactions increases even after a short use. Do not apply to areas of atrophied skin. Due to the content of glucocorticosteroid in patients with psoriasis, the drug should be used with caution. It is necessary to consult a doctor even if the above warnings refer to situations observed in the past. Pharmacological action Corticosteroids for local use in dermatology. Corticosteroids are inactive in combination with antibiotics. Oxycort – aerosol for application to the skin, suspension – contains two active ingredients: oxytetracycline and hydrocortisone. Oxytetracycline is an antibiotic belonging to the group of tetracyclines. It has a bacteriostatic effect against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid. It has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive effect. The drug Oxycort acts on tetracycline-sensitive bacteria located in inflammatory foci of the skin, and also limits local inflammatory processes, reduces erythema and itching. Indications for use Dermatoses that can be treated with glucocorticosteroids, such as: allergic dermatoses, pruritus, eczema, contact and seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, complicated by a bacterial infection caused by microflora sensitive to oxytetracycline. Method of application and dosesOxycort preparation should be used in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations. In case of doubt, a doctor should be consulted. Preparation for use on the skin. Adults The affected areas of the skin are irrigated with a jet of suspension, holding the can vertically, spray head up, from a distance of 15 cm to 20 cm, for 1 to 3 seconds. Usually the drug is used 2 to 4 times a day, at regular intervals. Note: Protect eyes from contact with the drug. Do not inhale spray substance. Shake the can vigorously several times before each use. After each application of the drug, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Children Do not use in children due to lack of safety data. If during the use of the drug it seems to the patient that the effect of the drug is too pronounced, consult a doctor. If Oxycort is used at a higher dose than prescribed If the drug is used on large areas of the skin, in large doses, under an occlusive dressing or on damaged skin, it can be absorbed into the bloodstream and cause systemic action of a corticosteroid or oxytetracycline. In case of using a larger than prescribed dose of the drug, you should immediately consult a doctor. In case of missing a dose of Oxycort If the drug was not used at the appointed time, and there is still a lot of time before the next use of the drug, it is necessary to use the drug as soon as possible or continue using the drug in accordance with the recommendations. Do not use a double dose to make up for the missed one. Use during pregnancy and lactation Before using any drug, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use during pregnancy and lactation. Precautions This product is for skin use only. Do not inhale spray substance. Avoid getting the drug on mucous membranes. Protect eyes from getting the drug. In case of contact with the mucous membrane of the eye, it is necessary to rinse the eyes thoroughly with water at room temperature. If skin irritation occurs at the site of application of the drug, it is necessary to inform the doctor about this. The doctor will decide whether to stop the drug. If after 7 days of use there is no improvement, you should consult a doctor. Do not bandage the skin on which the drug is applied and do not use the drug under occlusive dressings. The use of an occlusive dressing enhances the penetration of the drug through the skin into the blood, as a result of which systemic side effects of corticosteroids may develop. Hydrocortisone can be absorbed into the blood through the skin and have an immunosuppressive effect (decrease in body resistance). Therefore, during the use of the drug, the patient should beware of contracting a viral infection (chicken pox, measles). Avoid prolonged use of the drug or its use on large areas of the skin. In such cases, hydrocortisone can be absorbed into the bloodstream and have systemic side effects characteristic of corticosteroids, including inhibition of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal system (including manifestations of Cushing’s syndrome, glucosuria, hyperglycemia). If you experience systemic side effects of corticosteroids, you should consult a doctor. Prolonged use of the drug on the skin can lead to dilation of blood vessels and skin atrophy. Sunlight or artificial UV light (such as a solarium) should be avoided due to the possibility of an allergy to sunlight. The use of the drug, especially for a long time, can lead to the growth of strains of bacteria or fungi resistant to oxytetracycline. If symptoms of new infections appear while using Oxycort, stop using the drug and consult a doctor. Do not use the drug continuously for more than 2 weeks. Interactions with other drugs It is necessary to tell the doctor about all drugs taken recently, even those that are available without a prescription. No interactions have been established with the local application of the drug in the case when the drug was prescribed according to the recommended indications in compliance with the method of application. Simultaneous, topical application of two or more drugs is not recommended, as this may affect the concentration of active substances at the site of application or cause redness of the skin. The risk of developing systemic effects increases when applied under occlusive dressings, applied in the area of skin folds, axillary or inguinal region. Adverse reactions associated with the content of oxytetracycline. From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: skin irritation, photosensitivity, development of secondary infections caused by fungi or resistant strains of bacteria.
