The main active ingredient Cyclocytidine monophosphate Release form Ointment Pharmacological action The active principle of the drug is cyclocytidine monophosphate (c-CMP) – a synthetic analogue of a purine nucleoside that has activity against human herpes viruses, including Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, Varicella Zoster virus. The drug is effective in case of resistance to acyclovir and phosphonoacetic acid. It has a direct virus inhibitory effect, provides a complete blockade of the virus in the pathological focus. Reduces itching, swelling, hyperemia of the skin and mucous membranes. Prevents the formation of new elements of the rash, reduces the likelihood of skin dissemination and visceral complications, accelerates the formation of crusts. Helps reduce pain when used in the acute phase of herpes zoster. Indications for use The drug is used for infections of the skin and mucous membranes caused by the herpes simplex virus, including primary and recurrent genital herpes; in primary and recurrent infections caused by the herpes zoster virus in patients without impaired immunity. The drug is especially indicated for use in patients with chronic relapsing course of herpesvirus infection, with resistance to standard antiherpetic therapy. Method of application and doses The drug is applied to the lesion five times a day with an interval of 4 hours. The duration of the course of treatment in patients with lichen simplex (Herpes simplex) and genital herpes (Herpes genitalis) is at least 7-14 days, in patients with herpes zoster (Herpes zoster) – 14-21 days. Treatment with the drug must be continued for 3 days after the disappearance of signs of the disease. The drug can not be used to treat ophthalmic herpes and other eye diseases.
