Name:
Aktovir ointment for nar. and local application in tubes 4 g in pack No. 1
Description:
Ointment from white with a grayish or yellowish tint to light yellow with a brownish or greenish tint. The main active ingredient Acyclovir + butaminophen Release form Ointment Pharmacological action Actovir is a combined drug that has an antiviral effect (anti-herpetic), which is due to the pharmacological properties of its active components: acyclovir and butaminophen. Aciclovir Aciclovir is an antiviral drug that has been shown to be active in in vitro studies against herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2. When it enters cells infected with the herpes virus, acyclovir is phosphorylated and converted to its active form – acyclovir triphosphate. The first step in this process depends on the presence of HSV-encoded thymidine kinase. Aciclovir triphosphate acts as an inhibitor and substrate for herpes-specific DNA polymerase, preventing further viral DNA synthesis without affecting normal cellular processes. Butaminophen Butaminophen is a phenolic antioxidant. The drug has antiviral activity in the treatment of herpetic skin diseases. The mechanism of the antiviral action of butaminophen is not well understood. Animal studies revealed synergism of the antiviral action of the active components that make up Actovir. Indications for use Actovir is used for herpetic skin lesions caused by the Herpes Simplex virus, including primary and recurrent genital herpes. Use in immunocompromised patients Use is not recommended in immunocompromised patients and a physician should be consulted regarding the treatment of any infection. Method of administration and doses Actovir ointment is applied externally, applied to the affected areas 4-6 times a day (as soon as possible after the onset of infection). A strip of ointment about 1 cm long should be applied to 25 cm2 of the affected skin or mucosa. It is important to start treatment of a recurrent infection during the prodromal phase or at the very beginning of the infection. Duration of treatment – at least 5 days, maximum – 10 days. If symptoms persist for more than 10 days, you should consult a doctor. To prevent deterioration of the condition and prevent transmission of infection, you must wash your hands before and after applying the drug, do not rub or touch the affected skin with a towel. Application in children. Due to the lack of adequate data, the use of the drug in children under 12 years of age is not recommended. Use during pregnancy and lactation If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you suspect that you are pregnant or do not exclude the possibility of pregnancy, inform your doctor. Application is indicated only in cases where the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. When prescribing acyclovir in forms for systemic use, the drug passes into breast milk. The appointment of the drug during this period is possible only after assessing the risk/benefit ratio. Precautions To prevent autoinoculation of the virus on other areas of the skin or mucous membranes, fingertips or rubber gloves should be used. The drug Actovir should not be applied to the mucous membranes of the mouth and eyes. Avoid accidental contact with eyes. The drug Actovir is effective for the prevention of recurrence of herpes lips. The effectiveness of treatment will be the higher, the earlier it is started (at the first sign of infection). For the implementation of the therapeutic effect, the state of the immune system is important, therefore, in patients with reduced immunity (with HIV / AIDS or after bone marrow transplantation), against the background of topical application of Actovir ointment, systemic administration of antiherpetic drugs should be prescribed, as well as in the case of severe and recurrent herpes infection . With severe manifestations of herpes lips, it is recommended to consult a doctor. Persons with herpes on the lips (especially those with open lesions) must strictly follow the precautions to prevent infection of other people. Actovir does not prevent sexual transmission of herpes, therefore, during the treatment period, it is necessary to refrain from sexual intercourse, even in the absence of clinical manifestations of infection. Interaction with other drugs If you are currently or have recently taken other drugs, tell your doctor. With external use, interactions with other drugs have not been identified.
