Linex forte caps in bl. in pack. №7х4
Description:
Capsule: white body, yellow cap. Capsule contents: light beige powder with yellow patches. Release formCapsules Pharmacological actionPharmacodynamicsLinex Forte capsules contain two types of lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5 and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, BB-12, which are part of the normal intestinal microflora. Species LA-5 and BB-12 exert preventive and curative effects through several possible mechanisms. They prevent the growth of pathogenic bacteria: • as a result of a decrease in the pH of the intestinal contents (due to the ability of LA-5 to produce lactic acid and BB-12 to produce not only lactic, but also acetic and succinic acids); • as a result of the synthesis of metabolites that are toxic to pathogenic bacteria (H2O2 synthesis); • as a result of the synthesis of antibiotic substances, bactericides (LA-5 produces acidocin, a broad spectrum bactericide that inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi); • competing with pathogenic bacteria for nutrients; • by binding to enterocyte receptors, thus preventing colonization of other potentially pathogenic microorganisms. Bacterial strains also stimulate specific and non-specific immune systems. An imbalance in the intestinal microflora, potentially caused by numerous factors (viral and bacterial intestinal infections, travel abroad, treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics and chemotherapeutic drugs, radiation therapy of the abdominal cavity and pelvic organs), or untimely formation of normal intestinal microflora in infants age can cause gastrointestinal disturbances such as flatulence, diarrhea and constipation. The use of LA-5 and BB-12 effectively reduces the frequency and severity of mild to moderate gastrointestinal disorders (especially diarrhea) caused by disturbances in the normal intestinal microflora and maintains normal intestinal motility. Pharmacokinetics Lactic acid bacteria, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5 and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, BB-12, act locally in the gastrointestinal tract. Systemic absorption after oral administration is not observed. In this regard, classical pharmacokinetic studies are lacking. The resistance of LA-5 and BB-12 to gastric acid and bile allows a significant amount of them to remain unharmed after passing through the stomach and duodenum. Both strains can attach to intestinal mucus, but like other microorganisms, they are gradually eliminated from the gastrointestinal tract by peristalsis and defecation. Indications for use Linex Forte contains two types of lactic acid bacteria that contribute to the maintenance and functioning of the intestinal microflora. Linex Forte capsules are used for the prevention and as an adjuvant in the treatment of diarrhea, bloating and other gastrointestinal disorders caused by an imbalance in the intestinal microflora, which is usually the result of: – viral and bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract in newborns, children and adults ( eg: rotavirus infection, traveler’s diarrhea); -treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics and chemotherapeutic drugs; – radiation therapy of the abdominal cavity and pelvic organs. Dosage and administration Newborns and children under 2 years old: 1 capsule once a day, preferably between meals; Children aged 2 to 12 years: 1 capsule 1-2 times a day (depending on the severity of the condition), preferably between meals; Adults and children over 12 years old: 1 capsule 3 times a day (depending on the severity of the condition), preferably between meals. In the treatment of diarrhea in children under six years of age, a preliminary consultation with a doctor is necessary. For children and patients who cannot swallow a whole capsule, it must be opened, the contents poured into a spoon and mixed with a small amount of liquid or food. The lactic acid bacteria contained in Linex Forte are sensitive to certain antibiotics; to increase efficiency, it is recommended to take Linex Forte capsules with antibiotics in a three-hour time interval. Linex Forte should not be taken with hot drinks or used simultaneously with alcohol. Linex is taken until the symptoms disappear. If diarrhea does not go away after two days of treatment with Linex Forte, patients should consult a doctor. In the self-treatment of diarrhea, the first and main measure is the replacement of lost fluids and electrolytes. Application during pregnancy and lactation Treatment of diarrhea during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be carried out under medical supervision. In the absence of sufficient data on the safety of Linex Forte during pregnancy and breastfeeding, drug therapy during these periods is not recommended. Precautions It is necessary to consult with your doctor before taking Linex Forte if you have: – body temperature above 38 ° C; – traces of blood or mucus in the stool; Diarrhea lasts more than two days and is accompanied by severe abdominal pain, dehydration and weight loss chronic diseases (eg diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease) or conditions characterized by decreased immunity (eg HIV infection). Linex Forte contains anhydrous glucose and oligofructose. The drug is contraindicated in patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency. Linex Forte may contain milk protein residues that may cause allergic reactions. Interaction with other drugs Lactic acid bacteria contained in Linex Forte are sensitive to certain antibiotics. To increase efficiency, it is recommended to take Linex Forte capsules with antibiotics in compliance with a three-hour time interval. No other interaction studies have been conducted. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to the active substance or components of the drug. Linex Forte capsules contain live lyophilized lactic acid bacteria: Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5 not less than 1×109 CFU, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, BB-12 not less than 1×109 CFU; Excipients: inulin, oligofructose, anhydrous glucose, microcrystalline cellulose, potato starch, magnesium stearate. Capsule body: titanium dioxide (E171), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose; Overdose Cases of Linex overdose have not been described. Side effects Undesirable effects when using lactic acid bacteria are extremely rare (occur in less than 1 case per 10,000 treated patients). An allergic reaction may occur.
