What the drug is and what it is used forThe drugs Fungilam and Fungilam with eucalyptus contain the active substance naftifine and are antifungal agents for external use. Indications for use Local treatment of fungal infections caused by pathogens sensitive to naftifine: – fungal infections of the skin and skin folds with or without accompanying itching; – fungal nail infections; – skin candidiasis; – pityriasis versicolor. Information about the benefits of using the drug Fungilam is intended for the treatment of fungal skin diseases and is active against various pathogens of fungal infection, such as Trichophyton, Microsporon, Epidermophyton, Candida, Aspergillus, Sporothrix schenkii. It also exhibits antibacterial activity against microorganisms that often accompany fungal infections. Fungilam has an anti-inflammatory effect, due to which signs of inflammation, especially itching, quickly disappear. Contraindications Do not use Fungilam if you are allergic to naftifine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in the Composition section of this leaflet). Warnings and Precautions Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Fungilam. Fungilam is intended for external use on the skin and nails only. Fungilam is not intended for use in ophthalmology. The solution should not be used on open wounds or cracks. The product contains propylene glycol, which may cause skin irritation. Fungilam is applied undiluted and not mixed with other topical preparations, because due to the reduced concentration, the effectiveness of the active substance may be insufficient. Fungilam does not cause an increase in skin sensitivity to light. Children and adolescents The safety and efficacy of naftifine in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been studied. Other drugs and this drug Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might start taking any other medicines. Interactions with other medicinal substances have not been noted. Fungilam with food and drink No interactions with alcohol have been noted. Use by pregnant and breastfeeding women, fertility information If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor before using this medicine. Pregnancy As a precautionary measure, it is preferable not to use Fungilam during pregnancy. Breastfeeding Fungilam should not be used during breastfeeding. Driving and operating machines No such effects have been reported to date. Directions Always use this medicine exactly as directed by this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Fungilam is intended for external use on the skin and nails only. For the treatment of a fungal infection of the skin, apply once a day. For the treatment of fungal infections of the nails, apply twice a day. The affected skin and adjacent areas are cleaned, dried, then thoroughly moistened with a solution directly from the vial or with a cotton swab. For the treatment of fungal infections of the nails, apply twice a day, applying from the side of the free edge of the nail. Before the first application of the solution, the affected part of the nail is removed as much as possible with scissors or a nail file. To eliminate a fungal infection and prevent re-infection, it is recommended to take the following precautions: • Change towels, clothes and linen that come into contact with diseased skin daily. • Do not wear tight, breathable clothing and footwear (eg synthetic socks, tight shoes). Dry the affected skin thoroughly after washing. In the case of a fungal infection of the feet, you should not walk barefoot at home or in public places to prevent re-infection or the spread of pathogenic pathogens. Bath and sauna can be visited only after complete disposal of the fungal infection. • Personal hygiene measures must be followed to prevent re-infection. The safety and efficacy of naftifine in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been established. Duration of therapy To prevent recurrence of infection, treatment should be continued for at least two weeks after clinical recovery. The duration of treatment for onychomycosis is determined by the rate of regrowth of the nail plates and can be from 3 to 6 months until the new nail fully grows. If the condition does not improve within 4 weeks or it worsens, you should consult a doctor. If you forget to take Fungilam or take an insufficient amount, continue using the drug further according to the dosing regimen. Do not double your dose to make up for a missed dose. If you have taken more Fungilam than you should have. Acute overdose and general intoxication with external use of naftifine are unlikely. In case of accidental ingestion, it is recommended to consult a doctor. If you have any questions about the use of the drug, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Fungylam can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. With an unknown frequency, a feeling of dryness, burning or redness may occur. If you notice any of these symptoms, stop using the drug and contact your doctor. Reporting adverse reactions If you experience any adverse reactions, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This recommendation applies to any possible adverse reactions, including those not listed in the package insert. You can also report adverse reactions directly through [email protected]. By reporting adverse reactions, you help to get more information about the safety of the drug. Storage Keep the drug out of the reach of the child so that the child could not see it. Do not use the drug after the expiration date (shelf life) indicated on the carton. The expiry date is the last day of the month. Store below 25°C. After opening the vial, the drug is valid for 28 days. Do not dispose of the drug down the drain. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of (destroy) medicines that you no longer need.
