Description:
Eye drops, solution 0.05% transparent, colorless, without visible particles. The main active ingredient is tetrizolin. Release form Eye drops Dosage rate, disodium edetate dihydrate, benzalkonium chloride, purified water. 15 ml – plastic dropper bottles (1) – cardboard boxes. It is advisable to use Tetrizolin in the form of eye drops only for mild eye irritation. If irritation and hyperemia of the conjunctiva are associated with an infectious disease, the presence of a foreign body or chemical injury to the cornea, a doctor’s consultation is necessary. If within 48 hours after the start of the use of eye drops, the symptoms of the disease persist, become more pronounced or a side effect occurs, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor. If you experience intense eye pain, headache, blurred vision, sudden appearance of floating spots before the eyes, redness of the eyes, pain when exposed to light, or double vision, you should immediately consult a doctor. In diseases of the conjunctiva, wearing contact lenses is not recommended. If, in exceptional cases, wearing contact lenses is allowed, they should be removed before instillation of the drug and installed after about 15 minutes. Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms During the period of treatment, care must be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention, speed of psychomotor reactions and good vision (after the use of eye drops, pupil dilation and blurred vision may occur) . Pharmacological action Visoptin is a sympathomimetic drug that stimulates the alpha-adrenergic receptors of the sympathetic nervous system, but has no or little effect on beta-adrenergic receptors. Indications for use moderate eye irritation: itching, swelling and hyperemia of the conjunctiva, burning, lacrimation, injection of the sclera due to chemical and physical factors (dust, cosmetics, swimming in chlorinated water, exposure to bright light or computer monitor radiation); allergic conjunctivitis. Dosage and administration The drug is intended for topical use. Adults and children over 7 years of age are instilled into each eye in the lower conjunctival sac, 1-2 drops 2-3 times / day. Do not use the drug continuously for more than 4 days without consulting a doctor. Use during pregnancy and lactation Use during pregnancy and lactation is possible only after careful comparison of the intended benefit to the mother and the potential risk to the fetus or child. Reproductive studies in animals have not been conducted. It is not known whether tetrizoline is excreted in breast milk. Precautions Tetrizoline eye drops should only be used for mild eye irritation. If irritation and hyperemia of the conjunctiva are associated with an infectious disease, the presence of a foreign body or a chemical injury to the cornea, an ophthalmologist should be consulted. Benzalkonium chloride, which is part of Vizoptin, can cause eye irritation and discolour soft contact lenses. In diseases of the conjunctiva, wearing contact lenses is not recommended. If, in exceptional cases, wearing contact lenses is allowed, they should be removed before instillation of the drug and installed after about 15 minutes. Vizoptin is not prescribed to children under the age of 7 years. Pregnancy and lactation Data on the use of tetrizoline during pregnancy and lactation in women are insufficient to assess the potential risk of toxicity to the fetus and child. Use during pregnancy and lactation is possible only after a careful comparison of the possible benefits to the mother and the risk to the fetus or child. Reproductive studies in animals have not been conducted. It is not known whether tetrizoline is excreted in breast milk. Interaction with other drugs The drug should not be used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors (phenelzine, nialamide, iproniazid, etc.) and within 10 days after stopping their use. Contraindicationsglaucoma; dry eye syndrome; epithelial-endothelial dystrophy of the cornea; simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors; children’s age up to 7 years; hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. With caution, the drug should be used in patients with severe cardiovascular diseases (including coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, cardiac aneurysm, arterial hypertension), hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, pheochromocytoma, during treatment with drugs that increase blood pressure. Overdose The development of systemic symptoms of overdose is possible with accidental or deliberate ingestion of the drug. Symptoms: dilated pupil, nausea, cyanosis, fever, convulsions, tachycardia / bradycardia, arterial hypertension, dizziness, shock-like syndrome with arterial hypotension and bradycardia. Overdose in children can be manifested by CNS depression, accompanied by drowsiness, excessive sweating, severe arterial hypotension, up to shock. Treatment: the appointment of activated charcoal, gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy (oxygen inhalation, the use of antipyretics, anticonvulsants). The specific antidote is unknown. In case of an overdose due to accidental excessive instillation of the drug into the eye, the excess drug can be removed with warm running water. Side effect On the part of the organ of vision: increased intraocular pressure, burning sensation and reactive hyperemia of the eye; rarely – pupil dilation. From the side of the cardiovascular system: arterial hypertension, disruption of the heart. From the side of metabolism: hyperglycemia. Storage conditions The drug should be stored in its original packaging to protect from light, out of the reach of children at a temperature of 15-25°C.
