Indications for use Reducing swelling of the nasal mucosa, including acute rhinitis of various etiologies, sinusitis, laryngitis, eustachitis, otitis media (as an additional remedy); – to reduce swelling of the mucous membranes of the nose, nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to naphazoline or one of the components of the drug; age up to 15 years; atherosclerosis; arterial hypertension; tachycardia; thyrotoxicosis; chronic atrophic rhinitis; severe eye diseases; angle-closure glaucoma; diabetes; simultaneous use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) and a period of up to 14 days after the end of their use. Composition 10 ml of the drug contains: active substance: naphazoline nitrate 0.010 g; excipients: boric acid 0.300 g, ethylenediamine qs (about 0.0004 g), cetyl alcohol 0.004 g, methyl paraben 0.010 g, eucalyptus oil 0.00025 g, polysorbate 80 0.055 g, cholesterol 0.008 g, liquid paraffin (vaseline oil) 1.150 g, purified water up to 10,000 ml. Active ingredient Nafazolin. Dosage 0.1% Dosage and administrationAdults and children over 15 years of age. Intranasally. 1-3 drops of the drug in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day. The duration of treatment is not more than 5-7 days. If necessary, treatment can be resumed after a few days. The drug is instilled into each nasal passage with the head slightly thrown back. When instilled into the left nasal passage, the head should be tilted to the right, and when instilled into the right nasal passage, to the left. Side effects At recommended doses, naphazoline is generally well tolerated. On the part of the respiratory system: dryness of the nose, reactive hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, irritation and swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity when used for more than 1 week, atrophic rhinitis. When administered intranasally, it has a rapid, pronounced and prolonged vasoconstrictor effect on the vessels of the mucous membranes of the nose, nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses – it reduces swelling and hyperemia, which improves the patency of the nasal passages and facilitates nasal breathing.
