Description:

Use during pregnancy and lactation Pregnancy The drug should not be used during pregnancy due to the lack of studies in this category of patients. However, the use of the drug during this period is possible if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child. The use of bifonazole should be avoided during the 1st trimester of pregnancy. Lactation It is not known whether bifonazole passes into breast milk. Caution should be exercised during treatment with bifonazole. When prescribing the drug during lactation, the application of the drug to the chest area should be avoided. The use of the drug during this period is possible if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child. Precautions Use with caution in patients with hypersensitivity to other antifungal drugs from the group of imidazole derivatives (econazole, clotrimazole, miconazole). Avoid getting the drug in the eyes. The propylene glycol contained in the medicinal product may cause skin irritation; cetostearyl alcohol – may cause local skin reactions (eg, contact dermatitis). Use in children is possible only under medical supervision. Keep away from fire. The use of a cream for antifungal treatment of the skin of the nail bed is possible only after a preliminary keratolytic removal of the infected nail. If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted. Interaction with other drugs Limited data suggest that an interaction between topically applied bifonazole and warfarin is possible, which is manifested by an increase in the INR. Overdose When applied to the skin, overdose is unlikely. In case of accidental ingestion of the drug, gastric lavage is recommended. Side effects General disorders and reactions at the site of application: pain and swelling of the skin at the site of application. On the part of the immune system: in very rare cases, systemic hypersensitivity reactions may develop. From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: contact dermatitis, allergic dermatitis, erythema, eczema, pruritus, rash, urticaria, blisters, peeling, dry skin, irritation, maceration, burning sensation on the skin. In case of hypersensitivity to cetylstearyl alcohol, allergic skin reactions may occur. Usually, side effects disappear after the drug is discontinued.
