Patients with a rare hereditary disorder of fructose intolerance should not take this medicine. The preparation contains a small amount of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per dose. Pharmacological actionGerbion® Iceland moss syrup is a medicinal product based on components of plant origin, the use of which for the indicated purposes is based only on the experience of long-term use. The main components of the extract are plant mucus containing polysaccharides, which have an enveloping effect on the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, helping to reduce the cough reflex and alleviate dry, irritating cough. Indications for useGerbion® Iceland moss syrup is used as part of complex therapy for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, irritation of the oral mucosa and pharynx, accompanied by a dry cough. Use for the indicated purposes is based on long-term experience only. Method of administration and doses Dosage regimen Children from 12 to 16 years old: 10 ml of syrup (two scoops) four times a day (corresponding to 240 mg of Icelandic moss thick extract per day). Adults and adolescents over 16 years of age: 15 ml of syrup (three scoops) four times a day (corresponding to 360 mg of Icelandic moss thick extract per day). Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to lack of sufficient data. The duration of treatment depends on the etiology and severity of the disease and can be 7-14 days. If symptoms persist or worsen while taking the drug for 7 days, you should consult your doctor. Method of application It is not recommended to eat or drink liquid immediately after taking the syrup, as in this case the drug can be removed too quickly from the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and pharynx. When using Herbion® Iceland moss syrup, drinking plenty of water (tea or other warm drinks) is recommended, however, not immediately after taking the drug. Shake the syrup bottle before use. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you have any further questions on the use of this drug, ask your doctor. Use during pregnancy and lactation If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suspect that you are pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor before using the drug. Since data on use during pregnancy and lactation are limited, the drug is not recommended for this category of patients. Interactions with other drugs Tell your doctor if you are taking, have recently taken or may start taking any other medicines. It is possible to slow down the absorption of other drugs while taking it. As a precautionary measure, Herbion® Iceland moss syrup should be taken 0.5 hour to 1 hour before or after taking other medicines. ContraindicationsIncreased individual sensitivity to Icelandic moss extract or to any of the excipients of the drug. Ingredients: 1 ml of syrup contains 6 mg of a thick extract of Icelandic moss (Cetraria islandica (L.) Acharius sl, thallus), which is equivalent to 96 mg – 108 mg of Icelandic moss. DER ratio: 16-18:1. Extractant: water. 1 ml of syrup contains 532 mg of sorbitol and 0.6 mg of ethanol. Excipients: liquid sorbitol (Decrystallizing) (E420), xanthan gum (E415), sodium benzoate (E211), citric acid monohydrate (E330), lemon flavor (consists of: lemon oil, ethanol (E1510), water, citral ex. Litsea cubeba.), purified water. Overdose Do not exceed recommended doses. No cases of drug overdose have been reported. Side effects Like all medicines, Gerbion® Iceland moss syrup can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Frequency unknown (frequency cannot be determined from the available data): hypersensitivity reactions with symptoms of itching, redness of the skin and difficulty breathing. There are reports of isolated cases of itching, nausea, abdominal pain, burning sensation of the oral mucosa. In case of allergic reactions, stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.
