Licorice preparations are not recommended for patients with arterial hypertension and cardiovascular diseases, hypokalemia, kidney and liver diseases, since these patients are more prone to adverse effects of licorice intake. Patients taking licorice root should not take other products containing licorice due to the risk of serious adverse reactions such as fluid retention in the body, hypokalemia, arterial hypertension, heart rhythm disturbances.
