Title: Dried Peppermint Leaves
Description:
Dried peppermint leaves offer a multitude of therapeutic benefits stemming from their essential oil components, primarily menthol (60%). Internally, menthol stimulates cold receptors in the mouth, triggering the release of endorphins and other peptides that regulate pain, vascular tone, and various mediating systems. This leads to vasodilation in the heart, brain, and lungs, while simultaneously stimulating the respiratory center and suppressing the gag reflex. Peppermint’s essential oils also exhibit a spasmolytic effect on the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts, gently stimulating digestive secretions. The combined action of menthol and flavonoids provides a choleretic effect, while iso-valeric acid esters contribute to its sedative properties. Furthermore, menthol, beta-pinene, limonene, cineole, tannins, and ursolic acid provide antimicrobial and antifungal effects, supporting the restoration of ciliary epithelium function in the upper respiratory tract. Inhalations of peppermint oil maintain expectorant, mucolytic, and mild anti-hypoxic effects. Dried peppermint leaves are indicated for a wide range of conditions including: nervous system excitability, neuroses, mild sleep disturbances; cardiac pain, angina, neurocirculatory dystonia with tachycardia and hypertension; dyskinesia and spastic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, enzyme deficiencies, dysbiosis, meteorism, cholecystitis, gallstones; infections and inflammations of the mouth and upper respiratory tract; motion sickness; arthralgia, myalgia, neuralgia, radiculitis, rheumatism, bruises; injuries to the oral mucosa and lips, toothache, sunburned lips.
