ATX code: C08CA01. Indications for use The active substance of the drug Norvasc – amlodipine belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers. Norvasc is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) or a type of chest pain called angina, including the rare form Prinzmetal’s angina or variant angina. In patients with high blood pressure, this drug causes blood vessels to relax, making it easier for blood to pass through. In patients with angina, Norvasc improves the blood supply to the heart muscle and, accordingly, increases the flow of oxygen to it, thereby preventing the occurrence of chest pain. This drug does not provide immediate relief from chest pain due to angina pectoris.
