An increased risk of complications from the gastrointestinal tract exists in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease, who had bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, in patients over 65 years of age, with alcohol abuse, in smokers. An increased risk of the above complications also exists in patients who take corticosteroids (hormones) and anticoagulant drugs at the same time as indomethacin. The risk increases with the use of the drug in high doses and long-term treatment. Do not exceed recommended doses and duration of treatment. If you have heart problems, have had a stroke, or think you may be at risk of having them (for example, you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, or you smoke), you should discuss treatment with your doctor or pharmacist. Use with caution in the presence of any manifestations of hypersensitivity to food and drugs, in those suffering from chronic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis and / or nasal polyps, bronchial asthma. Indomethacin is used with caution in patients with kidney disease due to their possible damage. The use of indomethacin in patients with mental disorders, depression, epilepsy, parkinsonism can lead to a worsening of the underlying disease. In patients with bleeding disorders, it is necessary to monitor blood counts with prolonged use of the drug. Treatment with indomethacin, like other drugs drugs from the group of NSAIDs, can cause changes in liver function, which requires periodic monitoring of liver enzymes. Indomethacin can, although rarely, cause serious skin reactions. Treatment should be discontinued at the first signs of hypersensitivity on the skin. Use with caution in elderly patients, as well as in patients taking drugs to lower blood pressure and diuretics.
