Name:
Glauvent.
Description:
Glauvent is a centrally acting antitussive drug. It contains the alkaloid glaucine, isolated from the plant Glaucium flavum, which suppresses the cough center. Glauvent is used for dry cough of various origins: infectious and inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract; acute and chronic bronchitis, infectious diseases (flu). Precautions Do not use the drug if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance – glaucine hydrobromide or to any of the excipients; if you have low blood pressure; if you have an acute myocardial infarction; in children. The drug should be used with caution in patients with labile blood pressure due to the threat of collapse. Glauvent can be used simultaneously with bronchodilators, cardiovascular drugs (diuretics, ACE inhibitors). The active substance is effectively combined with ephedrine, citric acid, basil oil in combination preparations in the form of syrups offered for cough relief. Glauvent tablets should be used with caution in pregnant women and nursing mothers, assessing the benefit/risk ratio.
