Sandimmun Neoral 100mg capsules are a potent immunosuppressant medication. This cyclic polypeptide, composed of 11 amino acids, selectively targets T-lymphocytes. By inhibiting the activation of lymphocyte calcineurin during the G0 or G1 phase of the cell cycle, Sandimmun Neoral prevents T-lymphocyte activation and the antigen-dependent release of lymphokines, including interleukin-2 (a T-lymphocyte growth factor). Its action on lymphocytes is specific and reversible. Unlike cytotoxic drugs, it doesn't suppress hematopoiesis or affect phagocyte function.
