By inhibiting the activation of lymphocyte calcineurin during the G0 or G1 phase of the cell cycle, Sandimmun Neoral prevents T-lymphocyte activation and the antigen-dependent release of lymphokines, including interleukin-2 (a T-lymphocyte growth factor).
