- Polymer Barrel: Provides durability and resistance to chemicals.
- Autoclavable: Withstands multiple autoclave cycles for reliable sterilization (121°C or 134°C). Suitable for other sterilization methods, including steam sterilization (80-93°C) and dry heat sterilization (180-200°C, non-plastic components only).
- Withstands up to 5 boil sterilizations.
Proper Cleaning and Sterilization of Veterinary Instruments:
Effective sterilization is crucial for maintaining hygiene and preventing cross-contamination. Follow these steps for optimal results:
- Pre-Cleaning: Immediately after use, rinse the syringe thoroughly with cold, clean water to remove visible debris and any residual medication.
- Cleaning: Wash the disassembled syringe components in warm water (40-60°C) using a neutral-pH detergent. Enzyme-containing detergents or alkaline solutions may also be used, strictly following the manufacturer’s instructions regarding concentration, temperature, and soak time.
- Disinfection: Disinfect the syringe using either steam (preferred) or chemical disinfectants at 80-93°C for the recommended duration.
- Sterilization:
- Autoclaving: Sterilize the syringe using saturated steam at 134°C or 121°C (longer cycle time required).
- Dry Heat Sterilization: For non-plastic components only, dry heat sterilization can be performed at 180-200°C. Avoid exceeding 200°C to prevent damage. Do not dry heat sterilize components containing rubber, plastic, or textiles.
- Boiling: The syringe can withstand up to 5 boil sterilizations.
- Drying: Air dry thoroughly, or use a drying cabinet. For rubber components, limit drying temperatures to 70-80°C to prolong their lifespan.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure the longevity and hygiene of your veterinary syringe, maintaining a safe and effective working environment.
