Marshmallow Root Herbal Tea – 100g
Marshmallow root (Althaea officinalis) has a long history of use in traditional medicine, prized for its high mucilage content. This viscous substance provides a range of therapeutic benefits, making it a valuable addition to any herbal remedy collection. Our 100g bag provides a convenient and economical source of this powerful herb.
Therapeutic Uses & Benefits:
- Respiratory Support: Marshmallow root is a potent expectorant, helping to loosen and expel mucus, providing relief from coughs associated with bronchitis, tracheitis, laryngitis, and even asthma. Its soothing properties calm irritated airways, easing symptoms of a persistent cough.
- Anti-inflammatory Properties: The mucilage coats and soothes inflamed mucous membranes in the respiratory tract, offering relief from conditions like whooping cough and pneumonia.
- Gastrointestinal Relief: Marshmallow root’s protective mucilage forms a soothing barrier on the gastrointestinal lining, easing symptoms of gastritis, ulcers, colitis, and diarrhea. It can help to reduce inflammation and protect against further irritation.
- Urinary Tract Support: Traditionally used to alleviate inflammation and discomfort associated with cystitis (bladder inflammation), painful urination, and kidney issues.
- Skincare Applications: Its soothing and regenerative properties make it ideal for topical use. Compresses and washes can help soothe skin irritations, burns, and wounds, while improving skin hydration. It can also be beneficial for conditions like conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and other inflammatory skin conditions.
- Other Uses: Marshmallow root can be used as a hair rinse to improve shine and reduce dryness, and as a facial wash to soothe irritated skin.
