How to Put On Medical Compression Hosiery:
By Hand:
- It’s best to put on the garment in the morning. Ensure your nails are trimmed and rings are removed.
- Sit on a bed or sofa. Keep your leg bent at the knee.
- The garment should be right-side out.
- Insert your hand to the heel area, grasp the heel from the inside with your fingers, and turn it inside out only up to the heel, smoothing it out.
- Insert two thumbs inside the turned-out garment and stretch it as wide as possible.
- Pull up the heel part of the garment, aligning it with your heel and securing it by stepping on your heel.
- At mid-foot level, create a small fold in the garment, grasp it deeply with your fingers from both sides, move it towards the instep, stretch it as wide as possible, resting against the heel (as convenient: either with both thumbs or the lower part of your palms), wrap the heel with the stretched garment, and pull it up to the ankle level, smoothing the edge.
- Next, in portions (approximately 5 cm), grasp the garment, stretch it, and smooth out the edge from wrinkles. When the foot is visible, ensure the heel part of the garment is correctly positioned. If the heel part is shifted, grasp it with your fingers, pull it, and fix it correctly.
Using a Butler (Hosiery Aid):
- Place the butler on the floor in front of you, with the arch closer to you.
- Hold the stocking in both hands with the heel facing you.
- Pull the garment onto the butler up to the heel.
- Insert your foot into the garment so your foot rests on the floor.
- Pull the butler up to your knee using the handles.
- Remove the butler.
- Distribute the garment evenly along your leg.
- Smooth out any wrinkles by hand.
How to Remove the Garment:
- Grasp the top of the garment and, turning it inside out, pull it down to the knee, then to the ankle and toe.
- Do not pull on the waistband; grasp the knitted part of the garment.
Important Notes:
- For all types of garments: If the garment is not sufficiently stretched along the leg, do not pull it up by the top; instead, lower it and re-stretch it in portions, but more forcefully. It’s advisable to wear gloves when putting on the stockings.
- For socks: Do not wear them above the kneecap.
- For stockings with a silicone band: Do not apply cream or ointment to the part of the leg where the silicone band adheres.
- For tights and men’s hosiery: If the compression part of the garment is not sufficiently stretched, do not try to pull it up by the “legs,” as this may cause seams to burst and loops to appear.
WARNING!!! Do not cut off loose threads or labels to prevent unraveling of knots formed during manufacturing.
Wear the hosiery as recommended by your doctor. If no recommendations were given, we recommend putting them on in the morning and removing them in the evening.
