Ferro Sanol Duodenal is a 100mg iron supplement from Germany, providing 100 capsules for effective iron replenishment. This oral medication addresses iron deficiency, particularly iron-deficiency anemia. It’s suitable for adults and children over 6 years old, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, those on low-iron diets, and individuals recovering from acute or chronic blood loss.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed, the usual adult and child (6+ years) dose is one capsule daily. For severe iron deficiency in adults and adolescents (15+ years or 50kg+), the initial dose may be 2-3 capsules daily, spread throughout the day. Do not exceed the daily dose of 5mg Fe2+ per kg of body weight. Treatment duration is determined by a physician; replenishing iron stores can take 3-6 months depending on anemia severity and individual factors. Swallow capsules whole with sufficient water (ideally one glass), preferably on an empty stomach (1 hour before breakfast) or 2 hours before or after meals. If swallowing capsules is difficult, the contents can be emptied onto a spoon and consumed, followed by water.

Contraindications

Do not use Ferro Sanol Duodenal if you have: hypersensitivity (allergy) to the active ingredient or any excipient; esophageal stricture; hereditary iron storage disease (hemochromatosis); iron overload (chronic hemolysis, thalassemia, other hemoglobinopathies); impaired iron utilization (e.g., sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia); received repeated or chronic blood transfusions; or are under 6 years old.

Overdose

In case of overdose, contact a doctor immediately. Consuming milk or egg whites may help slow or prevent iron absorption.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Due to increased iron needs during pregnancy and breastfeeding, careful adherence to a physician-prescribed dosage is crucial.
