Traditional Uses and Properties:
Knotweed has a rich history in traditional medicine. Its high concentration of beneficial vitamins and minerals, particularly silicon, contributes to its remarkable properties. Silicon supports healthy hair and nail growth, helps regulate blood pressure, and promotes lung tissue repair. The silica content also creates a protective colloid in the urinary tract, assisting in the breakdown and prevention of kidney and bladder stones. The flavonoids and tannins in knotweed promote blood clotting and reduce vascular permeability, making it useful for managing uterine bleeding. Knotweed also supports healthy digestion by suppressing harmful bacteria and reducing inflammation, making it potentially beneficial for gastritis and ulcers. Its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties are traditionally used to address respiratory ailments such as bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. Knotweed also exhibits soothing effects on inflamed oral mucosa, reducing gum bleeding and aiding in burn healing. Its rich mineral profile boosts the immune system, combating fatigue and weakness.
