Main active ingredient Benzocaine + bismuth subgallate + zinc oxide + menthol Product form: rectal suppositories Pharmacological properties Pharmacodynamics Anestezol® is a complex drug, the therapeutic effect of which is due to the pharmacological properties of the active components that make up its composition. Anestezol® has a local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory, astringent and drying effect. Pharmacokinetics Data on the pharmacokinetics of the components of the drug when applied topically are not available. Indications for use Symptomatic treatment of hemorrhoids and anal fissures. Dosing and Administration Rectally. Adults and children over 12 years old: 1 suppository 1-2 times a day. When using rectal suppositories, it is not uncommon for abdominal cramps and the urge to defecate, so before the procedure, perform a cleansing enema or empty the intestines naturally. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap. Prepare wet wipes or a handkerchief soaked in water in advance. Lie on your side with your knees pressed to your stomach. For the procedure, this position is the most convenient, as it allows you to minimize discomfort. Remove the suppository from the package. The suppository is taken with the thumb and middle fingers of the right hand in the middle of the widest part, the index finger rests on the blunt end of the suppository. The suppository is directed with its free end to the anus and pushed with the index finger into the anal canal until it is completely immersed to a depth of 2-3 cm. Carry out the procedure carefully, without exerting excessive pressure. Despite the fact that the suppository has a streamlined shape, careless use can injure the mucous membrane. Do not get out of bed for about 20 minutes. Wipe your hands with a pre-prepared damp cloth or handkerchief. If within 10 minutes after the introduction of a rectal suppository there is an urge to defecate, empty the intestines and introduce a new suppository. If more than 10 minutes have passed between the introduction of the suppository and a bowel movement, an additional dose of the drug is not required. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor, taking into account the course and severity of the disease, the therapeutic effect achieved. Use during pregnancy and lactation The use of the drug Anestezol® during pregnancy and lactation is possible if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child. Precautions With prolonged use of the drug, monitoring of blood counts is necessary. Use with caution in patients with heart block. Use in children The use of the drug in children under the age of 12 years is contraindicated. Use in elderly patients There are no data on the use of the drug in elderly patients. Use in patients with impaired renal function There are no data on the use of the drug in patients with impaired renal function. Use in patients with impaired liver function There are no data on the use of the drug in patients with impaired liver function. Interaction with other drugs Benzocaine is metabolized to para-aminobenzoic acid, which may affect the effects of sulfonamides. Cholinesterase inhibitors inhibit the metabolism of benzocaine. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, allergic reactions to local anesthetics in history, children’s age (up to 12 years). One suppository contains: active ingredients: benzocaine – 100.0 mg, bismuth subgallate – 40.0 mg, levomenthol – 4.0 mg, zinc oxide – 20.0 mg; excipients: polyethylene oxide base (macrogol-1500 – 95%, macrogol-400 – 5%) – to obtain a suppository weighing 2.60 g. When used correctly, overdose is unlikely. Side effect The evaluation of undesirable adverse reactions is based on the following data on the frequency of occurrence: very often (? 1/10), often (? 1/100 to <1/10), infrequently (? 1/1000 to <1/100), rarely ( ≥1/10000 to <1/1000), very rare (<1/10000), not known (cannot be estimated based on available data). Blood and lymphatic system disorders Not known: methemoglobinemia (long-term use). Immune system disorders Uncommon: allergic reactions, itching.
