PDC Cervical Orthosis with Variable Fixation
Description:
The PDC physiotherapeutic dynamic cervical orthosis offers both bilateral and unilateral immobilization of the cervical spine, based on the concept of early functional treatment. The PDC orthosis minimizes painful limitations of neck movement while encouraging free movement where possible. Special attention has been paid to ensuring unimpeded access to the front of the neck, making it suitable for patients with an enlarged thyroid gland or tracheostomy. Its frameless design and porous, breathable materials ensure comfortable wear.
Indications:
- Degenerative disc disease of the cervical spine
- Ligament injuries (sprains)
- Post-operative recovery
- Muscular torticollis
Unilateral Mobility:
The PDC’s modular design allows for unilateral mobilization of neck muscles. For example, if movement to the right is restricted, exercises can be performed on the left side after removing the modular insert. This immobilizes the affected side while facilitating muscle atrophy prevention on the healthy side. A set of specific physiotherapy exercises is included in the product instructions.
Adjusting for Unilateral Mobility:
- Move the orthosis cover to one side.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the oval plastic module (secured by 4 clips) from the orthosis frame.
- Straighten the orthosis cover.
Sizing:
In addition to size, choose a height of 12 or 14 cm. Please refer to the size chart.
Application:
Place the orthosis around your neck with the arrow on the fastener pointing upwards. Secure the orthosis using the Velcro fastener, ensuring a comfortable fit (not too tight or too loose).
