Description:
Transparent colorless homogeneous mass with the smell of anise oil. The main active ingredient Choline salicylate + cetalkonium chloride Product form Gel Dosage 87.1 mg + 0.1 mg Pharmacological properties The combination of active ingredients has a local anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiseptic effect. The mechanism of anti-inflammatory and analgesic action of choline salicylate is mainly associated with inhibition of cyclooxygenase activity and suppression of prostaglandin synthesis. When applied topically in normal doses, it does not have a systemic effect. Cetalkonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound with antiseptic properties. Indications for use – inflammatory processes of the oral mucosa – erosion and ulceration of the oral mucosa – gingivitis – periodontal disease. Dosage and administration Apply a small amount of gel to pathologically altered areas, rubbing lightly for up to 2 minutes. Apply 2-3 times a day. Do not drink or eat for about half an hour after applying the gel. In case of periodontal diseases, the gel is injected into pockets or applied as compresses, or gently rubbed into the gums 1-2 times a day. Use during pregnancy and lactation Studies on the time and extent of absorption of choline salicylate after topical application of Cholisal to the oral mucosa in pregnant and lactating women have not been conducted. Salicylic acid derivatives are contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy. Salicylates are excreted in breast milk, so the use of Cholisal is not recommended during breastfeeding. Precautions At the site of application, a short-term burning sensation may occur, which subsequently disappears. The drug contains methylparaben and propylparaben, which may cause irritation. The drug contains 96% ethanol (ethyl alcohol), at a dose of 390 mg per 1 g of gel. This must be taken into account by pregnant women and nursing mothers, children, as well as patients from a high-risk group, incl. with liver diseases, epilepsy, persons suffering from alcoholism. Studies of the efficacy and safety of the drug in persons with liver and kidney diseases have not been conducted, however, since when applied topically in normal doses it does not have a systemic effect, there is no need to adjust the dosing regimen in this group of patients. If any adverse reactions occur, stop using the drug and consult a doctor. Do not use in children under 3 years of age. Interaction with other drugs When applied topically in accordance with the dosage recommendations, there is no risk of interactions. Only in case of a significant overdose and the development of systemic effects of choline salicylate, synergistic effects with other anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic drugs should be considered. Contraindications – hypersensitivity to salicylates, cetalkonium chloride or other components of the drug – children under 3 years of age – III trimester of pregnancy.
