Indications for use D3-CAPS ULTRA is a drug that contains cholecalciferol (vitamin D3). Vitamin D is found in some foods, and is also synthesized in the skin under the influence of ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Vitamin D enhances the absorption of calcium in the intestines, promotes the creation and strengthening of bone tissue, and reduces the excretion of calcium in the urine from the body. Scope: – Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in children from 6 years and adolescents; – Prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency in children and adolescents at identified risk; – Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in adults, pregnant and lactating women with identified risk; – As an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis in patients with known vitamin D deficiency or risk. Dosage and Administration This medicine should always be taken exactly as directed in this package insert, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. How to use D3-CAPS ULTRA is taken orally, during meals. D3-CAPS ULTRA chewable capsules can be chewed or swallowed whole. Acceptance of D3-CAPS ULTRA chewable capsules by children aged 6 to 10 years is allowed only under the supervision of adults. Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in children from 6 years of age and adolescents: 500 IU per day. Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in children and adolescents at identified risk: – The recommended dose is 500-1,000 IU of vitamin D per day. – to prevent deficiency in some children, doses up to 1500 IU per day may be required. Treatment of vitamin D deficiency in children and adolescents with an identified risk: the dose is determined individually by the doctor, depending on the course and severity of the disease. – The recommended dose is 2000 IU per day for 6 weeks followed by maintenance therapy of 500-1500 IU per day. Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in adult patients, pregnant and lactating women: – The recommended dose for adults is 500 IU of vitamin D per day. Doses up to 2000 IU per day may be required to prevent vitamin D deficiency in some pregnant women. During breastfeeding, even higher doses may be required in the absence of vitamin D prophylaxis for rickets in an infant. As an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis in patients with known or at risk of vitamin D deficiency: The recommended dose is 1000 IU of vitamin D per day. Some population groups are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency, and therefore for these groups it may be necessary to prescribe higher doses and monitor the concentration of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in the blood serum: – persons suffering from alcoholism; – institutionalized or hospitalized persons; – dark-skinned; – patients with diseases of the hepatobiliary system – impaired hepatic function, cirrhosis, obstructive jaundice; – patients with malabsorption, including those suffering from inflammatory bowel disease, persistent diarrhea and celiac disease; – patients with obesity; – patients with diagnosed osteoporosis; – patients using concomitant medications (eg, anticonvulsants, glucocorticoids); – persons with limited exposure to the sun, including children. For the convenience of choosing a dose of vitamin D, it is recommended to use drugs with different dosages (500 IU, 2,000 IU, 5,000 IU, 50,000 IU). If you have taken more D3-CAPS ULTRA than you should have If you or your child has taken more than necessary, contact your doctor or emergency room for risk assessment and advice. The most common overdose symptoms are: cardiac arrhythmias, thirst, production of large amounts of urine, dehydration, fatigue, bone pain, muscle weakness, impaired consciousness, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, mental disorders. If you forget to take D3-CAPS ULTRA Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one, but continue treatment as recommended. If you stop taking D3-CAPS ULTRA If you have any further questions on the use of D3-CAPS ULTRA after you stop taking it, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Use during pregnancy and lactation During pregnancy and during breastfeeding, an adequate intake of vitamin D is required. Cholecalciferol in a daily dose of more than 500 IU can be used during pregnancy on the recommendation of a doctor if clearly necessary. D3-CAPS ULTRA can be used during breastfeeding. Vitamin D passes into breast milk, this should be considered when using any additional source of vitamin D in infants. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using D3-CAPS ULTRA if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant. Effects on fertility There are no data on vitamin D treatment and its effect on fertility. Precautions: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking D3-CAPS ULTRA if you have impaired kidney function; if you are receiving treatment for cardiovascular diseases; if you suffer from sarcoidosis (a type of connective tissue disease that affects the lungs, skin, and joints); if you are taking medicines containing vitamin D and/or calcium. One capsule contains: cholecalciferol (in the form of an oily solution of cholecalciferol 1 million IU / g) – 12.5 mcg (500 IU). Excipients: orange oil or banana flavor*, medium chain triglycerides. The composition of the capsule shell: gelatin, glycerin, pregelatinized starch, purified water, fumaric acid, titanium dioxide E-171, quinoline yellow E-104, charming red E-129, sucralose. * Composition of banana flavor: natural flavors, blends of flavor extracts, vegetable oil. Side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
