D3-CAPS MAXIMA 50,000 IU capsules is used to treat vitamin D deficiency. Dosing and Administration This drug should always be taken exactly as directed in this package leaflet, or as directed by your healthcare professional or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. How to use D3-CAPS MAXIMA is taken orally, during meals. Treatment of vitamin D deficiency: 50,000 IU/week (1 capsule) for 7 weeks, followed by maintenance treatment (equivalent to 1,400-2,000 IU/day), such as 1 capsule per month, as needed. Maintenance therapy: carried out under the control of the concentration of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in the blood over the next 3-4 months to confirm the achievement of the target level. The dose is selected individually depending on the severity of vitamin D deficiency and the response to treatment. Some population groups are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency, and therefore for these groups it may be necessary to prescribe higher doses and monitor the concentration of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in the blood serum: – persons suffering from alcoholism; – institutionalized or hospitalized persons; – dark-skinned; – patients with diseases of the hepatobiliary system – impaired hepatic function, cirrhosis, obstructive jaundice; – patients with malabsorption, including those suffering from inflammatory bowel disease, persistent diarrhea and celiac disease; – patients with obesity; – patients with diagnosed osteoporosis; – patients using concomitant medications (eg, anticonvulsants, glucocorticoids); – Persons with limited sun exposure. For the convenience of selecting the dose of vitamin D, it is recommended to use drugs with different dosages (500 IU, 2000 IU, 5000 IU). If you have taken more than you should have taken D3-CAPS MAXIMA If you or your child has taken more than necessary, contact your doctor or emergency room for a risk assessment and consultation. The most common overdose symptoms are: cardiac arrhythmias, thirst, production of large amounts of urine, dehydration, fatigue, bone pain, muscle weakness, impaired consciousness, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, mental disorders. If you forget to take D3-CAPS MAXIM If you forget to take a dose of D3-CAPS MAXIM, take the forgotten dose as soon as possible. However, if the time is right for the next dose, do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one, but continue treatment as recommended. If you stop taking D3-CAPS MAXIM If you have any further questions on the use of D3-CAPS MAXIMA after you stop taking it, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Use during pregnancy and lactation There are limited data on the use of cholecalciferol in pregnant women. Animal studies have shown its reproductive toxicity. During pregnancy, high doses of vitamin D are not recommended due to the possibility of a teratogenic effect in case of an overdose. Also, in pregnant women, an overdose of vitamin D should be avoided, since prolonged hypercalcemia has sometimes been associated with a slowdown in physical and mental development, supravalvular aortic stenosis, and retinopathy in a child. During breastfeeding, it is necessary to take the drug with caution, since when the mother takes a large dose of the drug, symptoms of hypercalcemia in the child are possible. Precautions Before taking D3-CAPS MAXIMA, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you suffer from sarcoidosis (a type of connective tissue disease that affects the lungs, skin, and joints); if you are using other medicines containing vitamin D; if you have impaired kidney function; if you are receiving treatment for heart disease. Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms The study of the effect on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms has not been conducted. The impact is incredible.
